This small, north-facing shaded area of approximately 130 SF presented a myriad of challenges. Irrigation needed to be completely updated, a stump needed to be removed from a tight space and the drainage was shot. Once the stump was removed, the drainage issue could be fixed, and the soil was amended to add necessary acidity for the shade tolerant plantings.
Plantings Included: Blue Hydrangeas, Pink Hydrangeas, Pink Azaleas, Dwarf Alberta Spruce, Bear’s Breeches (Acanthus spinosus), Opal Lungwort (Pulmonaria), Heleborus, Boxleaf Euonymus, Snowball (Viburnum opulus), Thyme-Leaf Veronica, Periwinkle (Vinca minor), Wisteria, and Tickseed (Coreopsis) and Orange Marigold for a small adjacent sunny space.
