For this residential project, we worked closely with our client to create a backyard that was both functional and aesthetically pleasing. The space, which previously had no landscaping, was transformed into a vibrant and inviting garden while addressing the client’s desire for privacy.
We selected arborvitae to provide a natural privacy screen, ensuring they were spaced appropriately to allow sunlight to filter through while still offering seclusion.
To enhance the functionality of the space, we constructed custom planter boxes, giving the client the opportunity to grow her own vegetables. Drip irrigation lines were installed to ensure her plants received the perfect amount of water, promoting healthy growth.
At the rear of the yard, we used a sod cutter from Tates Rentals to remove the existing grass, creating a dedicated area for a pollinator-friendly garden. The new garden bed was filled with a variety of beautiful and hardy plants, including coneflowers, salvia, variegated dogwood shrubs, Bobo hydrangeas, butterfly bushes, nepeta, and dianthus. To further support local pollinators, we also planted an apple tree and a plum tree.
To ensure the plants thrived, we carefully amended the soil and finished the project with a layer of black mulch, providing a clean and polished look while helping to retain moisture and suppress weeds.
The result is a peaceful, functional, and pollinator-friendly backyard retreat that the client can enjoy for years to come.
