Rancho Santa Fe, California ~ Front Yard Concept Design

This entry was redesigned to add bursts of red color, a low maintenance lawn, and an edible garden. The garden in the front is separated from the lawn by Beauty of Moscow Lilac. Zoysia grass was selected for its resilience and drought tolerance–as it is able to withstand extended periods of dryness without sacrificing its lush green appearance. The client wanted a maintenance free lawn that would also remain green. Zoysia grass is particularly well-suited for regions with limited water resources or for those seeking to reduce water consumption in their gardens.

Garden Plantings included: Blue Fescue, Etoile Violette Clematis, Trumpet Daffodils, Emerald Arborvitae, Euonymus Burning Bush, Japanese Barberry, Purple Fountain Crocus, Amaryllis, Beauty of Moscow Lilac, and a Fuji Cherry Tree.

Edible Garden Plantings included: Red and Green Cabbage, Fireworks Pepper, Bright Light Beets and Lettuce.
